Comparative Sequence Analysis

Usually, we provide pages and services that can be viewed using any available Web browser. Unfortunately, we have had to change this policy for the new SMART service for reasons that (hopefully) shall become obvious.

One of the goals of SMART was not only to provide the information on several types of functional segments within a given sequence, but also to supply the user with a graphical representation of this sequence, too.

Trying to do so, however, was problematic since to properly align the domain icons, it was necessary to use HTML extensions to set the width (and height) of images.
This works well with Netscape - and even the Explorer doesn't crash ;-) - but Mosaic for example simply displays the icons unaligned using their initial size (examples are appended to the end of this page).
