| Description: | tail specific protease |
| Interpro abstract (IPR005151): | This group of putative serine peptidases belong to the MEROPS peptidase family S41 (C-terminal processing peptidase family, clan SM). The members of this group include: the tricorn protease of bacteria and archaea, C-terminal peptidases with different substrates specificities in different species including processing of D1 protein of the photosystem II reaction centre in higher plants and cleavage of a peptide of 11 residues from the precursor form of penicillin-binding protein; and some appear to be responsible for degrading oligopeptides, probably derived from the proteasome. |
| GO process: | proteolysis (GO:0006508) |
| GO function: | serine-type peptidase activity (GO:0008236) |
