Lysin motif
SMART accession number:SM00257
Description: -
Interpro abstract (IPR018392): The LysM (lysin motif) domain is about 40 residues long and is found in a variety of enzymes involved in bacterial cell wall degradation [(PUBMED:1352512)]. It contains a beta-alpha-alpha-beta conformation, with the beta strands forming an antiparallel beta sheet and the two alpha helices packing on one side of this sheet [(PUBMED:10843862)]. It may have a general peptidoglycan binding function. This domain can also be found in some eukaryotic proteins, such as the nuclear receptor coactivators and oxidation resistance protein 1.
