The BEACH domain is found in eukaryotic proteins that have diverse cellular functions, from apoptosis to vesicular transport, membrane dynamics and receptor signalling. The name BEACH is derived from BEige And Chediak-Higashi Syndrome, which are the protein in which the domain was originally identified.
