The domain is found in regulators responsible for pervasive, nonsex-specific alternative pre-mRNA splicing characteristics and has been found in splicing regulatory proteins [(PUBMED:8206918)]. These ancient, conserved SWAP proteins share a colinearly arrayed series of novel sequence motifs [(PUBMED:7971282)].
